RESUMO

Predicting the magnitude of herbicide impacts on marine primary productivity remains challenging because the extent of worldwide herbicide pollution in coastal waters and the concentration-response relationships of phytoplankton communities to multiple herbicides are unclear. By analyzing the spatiotemporal distribution of herbicides at 661 bay and gulf stations worldwide from 1990 to 2022, we determined median, third quartile and maximum concentrations of 12 triazine herbicides of 0.18 nmol L-1, 1.27 nmol L-1 and 29.50 nmol L-1 (95%Confidence Interval: CI 1.06, 1.47), respectively. Under current herbicide stress, phytoplankton primary productivity was inhibited by more than 5% at 25% of the sites and by more than 10% at 10% of the sites (95%CI 3.67, 4.34), due to the inhibition of highly abundant sensitive species, community structure/particle size succession (from Bacillariophyta to Dinophyceae and from nano-phytoplankton to micro-phytoplankton), and resulting growth rate reduction. Concurrently, due to food chain cascade effects, the dominant micro-zooplankton population shifted from larger copepod larvae to smaller unicellular ciliates, which might prolong the transmission process in marine food chain and reduce the primary productivity transmission efficiency. As herbicide application rates on farmlands worldwide are correlated with residues in their adjacent seas, a continued future increase in herbicide input may seriously affect the stability of coastal waters.

In modern power systems, efficient ground fault line selection is crucial for maintaining stability and reliability within distribution networks, especially given the increasing demand for energy and integration of renewable energy sources. This systematic review aims to examine various artificial intelligence (AI) techniques employed in ground fault line selection, encompassing artificial neural networks, support vector machines, decision trees, fuzzy logic, genetic algorithms, and other emerging methods. This review separately discusses the application, strengths, limitations, and successful case studies of each technique, providing valuable insights for researchers and professionals in the field. Furthermore, this review investigates challenges faced by current AI approaches, such as data collection, algorithm performance, and real-time requirements. Lastly, the review highlights future trends and potential avenues for further research in the field, focusing on the promising potential of deep learning, big data analytics, and edge computing to further improve ground fault line selection in distribution networks, ultimately enhancing their overall efficiency, resilience, and adaptability to evolving demands.

Background: Short videos on social media are playing an increasingly important role in cancer health education today. It is important to explore how the actual communication effect of health videos and the knowledge absorption of users are influenced by different factors of the video creation process. Objective: The objective of our study is to access the factors influencing breast cancer health education through short videos on efficiency and quality. Methods: Three pairs of videos about breast health were created and participants completed questionnaires before and after watching the videos. A paired t-test was used to analyze within-group change scores. RM-ANOVA was used to assess the relationship between the pretest, posttest, and three variables. Results: Watching short videos can significantly increase viewers' knowledge of related health topics (p < 0.05). The viewers' concentration level while watching was significantly higher for the video with background music (BGM) than for the video without BGM (p = 0.006). The viewers' willingness to share was significantly higher for the video with a progress bar than for the video without a progress bar (p = 0.02). Using an interpreter wearing a doctor's uniform instead of casual wear and setting a progress bar can significantly improve the efficiency of knowledge absorption (p < 0.05). Conclusion: A uniformed interpreter, BGM and a progress bar are factors influencing the efficiency of short health videos. They can be applied in video making to explore better ways of promoting cancer health education in the new mobile Internet environment.

BACKGROUND: Adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) are crucial in cell-assisted lipotransfer (CAL). ADSC-derived exosomes could improve the survival of CAL. Almost all relevant research now ignores ADSCs in favor of studying the proangiogenic potential of extracellular vesicles (EVs) on human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs). OBJECTIVES: Given the significance of ADSCs in CAL, the authors sought to verify that EVs from ADSCs under hypoxia treatment can enhance the angiogenic potential of ADSCs. METHODS: EVs were harvested from human ADSCs (hADSCs) under normoxia and hypoxia. A Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) assay was used to measure the proliferation of hADSCs. By examining the expression of CD31, vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2, and vascular endothelial growth factor, the pro-angiogenic differentiation potential was assessed. Moreover, a tube formation experiment was carried out to evaluate the pro-angiogenic differentiation potential. RESULTS: Hypoxic EVs showed more significant pro-proliferative and pro-angiogenic potential. Angiogenesis was more vigorous in hADSCs treated with hypoxic EVs than in those treated with nomorxic EVs. The hADSCs treated with hypoxic EVs expressed higher angiogenic markers, according to real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and Western blot analysis, which revealed more angiogenic marker expression in hypoxic EV-treated hADSCs. The same result was demonstrated by tube formation on Matrigel in vitro. CONCLUSIONS: Hypoxic EVs significantly increased the proliferation and angiogenic differentiation potential of hADSCs. Hypoxic EV-treated ADSCs may be beneficial to CAL and prevascularized tissue-engineered constructs.

The difficulties such as how to accurately locate acupoints and safely insert needles are presented in acupuncture robot. The puncture robot with high technological similarity to acupuncture robot is getting mature, and a large number of human trials and animal experiments have been conducted for the development of puncture robot. Through comparing the similarities and differences between puncture robot and acupuncture robot in the aspects of through-skin puncture, needle insertion and needle removal, the valuable technology of puncture robot is analyzed for the development of acupuncture robot, and the crucial direction of technology migration is determined. ①Integrating the mechanical feedback and medical imaging technology and utilizing the multi-modal perception to achieve the safety of acupuncture operation. ②Emphasizing the integration of the existing designs of chest puncture robot to realize the acupuncture operation with inhalation and exhalation involved. ③Focusing on the development of relevant technology of automatic needle removal through conducting the actual scenario of treatment with acupuncture robot in patients under non-anaesthetic condition.

Intelligent manufacturing (IM), sometimes referred to as smart manufacturing (SM), is the use of real-time data analysis, machine learning, and artificial intelligence (AI) in the production process to achieve the aforementioned efficiencies. Human-machine interaction technology has recently been a hot issue in smart manufacturing. The unique interactivity of virtual reality (VR) innovations makes it possible to create a virtual world and allow users to communicate with that environment, providing users with an interface to be immersed in the digital world of the smart factory. And virtual reality technology aims to stimulate the imagination and creativity of creators to the maximum extent possible for reconstructing the natural world in a virtual environment, generating new emotions, and transcending time and space in the familiar and unfamiliar virtual world. Recent years have seen a great leap in the development of intelligent manufacturing and virtual reality technologies, yet little research has been done to combine the two popular trends. To fill this gap, this paper specifically employs Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analysis (PRISMA) guidelines to conduct a systematic review of the applications of virtual reality in smart manufacturing. Moreover, the practical challenges and the possible future direction will also be covered.

The mobile tigecycline-resistant gene tet(X4), which confers resistance to all tetracyclines, has been identified in bacterial isolates from various sources. However, there are no reports on the occurrence of tet(X4) in bacterial isolates of ready-to-eat fresh vegetables. In this study, 113 vegetable samples from farmers' markets were screened for tigecycline-resistant strains. Ten Escherichia coli (two ST195, two ST48, and one ST10, ST58, ST88, ST394, ST641, and ST101) and one Klebsiella pneumoniae (ST327) recovered from nine vegetable samples (7.96 %) were identified as carrying tet(X4). The core genome sequences of the two E. coli ST195 isolates showed a close relationship (14-41 single-nucleotide polymorphisms) with 31 tet(X4)-bearing E. coli ST195 isolates from humans, pigs, pork, and bird in China and Thailand, and the 33 E. coli ST195 isolates producing Tet(X4) shared similar resistance genes and plasmid replicons. Nanopore sequencing and conjugation experiments confirmed that the tet(X4) genes were located on the hybrid plasmids IncFIA-HI1A-HI1B (n = 6), IncX1 (n = 3), and IncFII2 (n = 1) in E. coli, and IncFII plasmid in K. pneumoniae. IncFIA-HI1A-HI1B and IncX1 plasmids shared highly similar structures with plasmids from various sources in the GenBank database. This is the first study to report the observation of tet(X4)-positive bacteria in retail vegetables. The epidemic clones and plasmids contribute to tet(X4) dissemination in vegetables. The clonal spread of Tet(X4)-producing E. coli ST195 across multiple niches and countries could pose a potential threat to public health.

(1) Background: Studies have reported that COVID-19 may increase the risk of malnutrition among patients. However, the prevalence of such risk in hospitalized COVID-19 patients is uncertain due to the inconsistent use of assessment methods. (2) Methods: PubMed, Web of Science, and EMBASE were searched to identify studies on the nutritional status of hospitalized COVID-19 patients. A pooled prevalence of malnutrition risk evaluated by Nutrition Risk Score (NRS-2002) was obtained using a random effects model. Differences by study-level characteristics were examined by hospitalization setting, time of assessment, age, and country. Risk of bias was assessed using the Newcastle−Ottawa Scale. (3) Results: 53 studies from 17 countries were identified and summarized. A total of 17 studies using NRS-2002, including 3614 COVID-19 patients were included in the primary meta-analysis. The pooled prevalence of risk of malnutrition was significantly higher among ICU patients (92.2%, 95% CI: 85.9% to 96.8%) than among general ward patients (70.7%, 95% CI: 56.4% to 83.2%) (p = 0.002). No significant differences were found between age groups (≥65 vs. <65 years, p = 0.306) and countries (p = 0.893). (4) Conclusions: High risk of malnutrition is common and concerning in hospitalized patients with COVID-19, suggesting that malnutrition screening and nutritional support during hospitalization are needed.

OBJECTIVE: Unequal utilization of medical services will have a significant impact on the consumption of resources entitled through health insurance claims of patients. With the proposal of the goal of Healthy China, it is essential to achieve the equity of medical service utilization of patients with rare diseases to further promote social equity and justice. To analyze the consumption of medical resources of rare disease patients, so as to explore how different medical insurance types impact patients' medical resources consumption. This study pioneeringly used medical data from Peking Union Medical College Hospital. By analyzing the consumption data, this paper fills the research gap of existing studies on the analysis of medical service utilization inequality based on the perspective of insurance participation by examining the effects of different types of insurance coverage on medical resource consumption of hemophiliacs. At the same time, rare disease patients as a minority group have long been neglected in the analysis of medical resource consumption, and this paper fills the research gap of medical service utilization of this group to a certain extent by taking hemophiliacs as the object of analysis. METHODS: Based on the medical data of hemophilia patients in Peking Union Medical College Hospital from 2010 to 2020, we analyze the consumption of medical resources of the patients, and use a multiple regression model to explore how different medical insurance types impact patients' medical resources consumption. RESULTS: The study has three main findings. Firstly, the disparity in medical expenditure among different hemophilia patients is quite obvious, and the drug expense accounts for a large proportion of the total cost. Secondly, the ratio of reimbursement is generally low, and there is a wide difference in the amount of reimbursement for different types of medical insurance. Thirdly, the resource consumption of patients with different medical insurance types differs a lot. CONCLUSION: In order to improve the current medical insurance system and mechanism for providing orphan drugs, we put forward the following suggestions. First of all, the medical security system should expand its coverage to eliminate the medical expenditure gap between different hemophilia patients, therefore better promoting equity under the same insurance type. At the same time, the reimbursement level of medical expenses for patients with rare diseases should be appropriately improved, so as to reduce the financial burden of patients with rare diseases, and promote the realization of economic equity. In addition, society should pay special attention to the disadvantaged groups, reduce the differences between various medical insurance, and improve the level of health and equity of the whole society.

The appearance and prevalence of novel plasmid-encoded tigecycline resistance efflux pump gene clusters tmexC1D1-toprJ1 and tmexC2D2-toprJ2 in Enterobacteriaceae have raised a threat to public health. Here, another tigecycline resistance gene cluster, tmexC2D2.2-toprJ2, was identified in two Aeromonas isolates recovered from fish meat and vegetables. Cloning confirmed the expression of tmexC2D2.2-toprJ2 mediated the resistance to tigecycline and decreased susceptibility to tetracyclines and cephalosporins in both Escherichia coli and Aeromonas. In an Aeromonas veronii strain, four copies of tmexC2D2.2-toprJ2 were located on the chromosome. Further analysis revealed that tmexC2D2.2-toprJ2 has been detected in the chromosomes of A. veronii, Aeromonas hydrophila, and Aeromonas caviae with one to four copies due to the insertion of a potential integrative transferable unit. The occurrence of multiple copies of chromosomal tmexC2D2.2-toprJ2 may act as a sink for this tigecycline resistance gene cluster, which requires continuous monitoring. IMPORTANCE Tigecycline is regarded as one of the few effective drugs against multidrug-resistant bacterial infection. However, mobile tigecycline resistance efflux pump gene clusters such as tmexC1D1-toprJ1 and its variants have been identified in both animal- and human-origin Enterobacteriaceae. In this study, we first found another efflux pump gene cluster, tmexC2D2.2-toprJ2, in the Aeromonas chromosome. This gene cluster could mediate tigecycline resistance and decrease susceptibility to tetracyclines and cephalosporins in the Aeromonas host strain. Meanwhile, tmexC2D2.2-toprJ2 was detected with multiple copies in Aeromonas spp. This multidrug resistance efflux pump gene cluster with multiple copy numbers might stably exist in Aeromonas and serve as a reservoir for tmexCD2-toprJ2, facilitating its persistent presence and spread.

The increasing number of newborns has stimulated the infant market. In particular, the baby stroller, serving as an important life partner for both babies and parents, has attracted more attention from society. Stroller design and functionality are of vital importance to babies' physiological and psychological health as well as brain development. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a modularization design method for the novel four-wheeled baby stroller based on the KANO model to ensure the mechanical safety and involve more functionalities. Manual control of the baby stroller requires the rapid response of human motor systems in a completely controlled manner, which could be a potential risk. To enhance the safety and stability of the stroller motion, especially in situations where manual control is hard to achieve (e.g., sharp turns), we propose an autonomous motion control scheme based on model predictive control. Both the modularization design and the motion controller are verified in the MATLAB simulation environment through path tracking tasks. The feasibility is validated by the satisfactory experimental results with lateral position error in a reasonable range and good trajectory smoothness.

The occurrence of transferable tigecycline resistance determinants, tmexCD1-toprJ1, tmexCD2-toprJ2, tmexCD3-toprJ1b, and multiple tet(A) and tet(X) variants, presents an unprecedented challenge to clinical therapeutic options. tmexCD-toprJ-like gene clusters can mediate multidrug resistance and have been detected in a variety of bacteria. Here, we characterized the fourth tmexCD-toprJ-like gene cluster, tmexCD4-toprJ4, identified on untypeable plasmids of Klebsiella quasipneumoniae and Enterobacter roggenkampii isolated from chicken meat and environmental samples from farm markets, respectively. TMexCD4-TOprJ4 was closely related (92 to 99% amino acid identity) to TMexCD1-TOprJ1, TMexCD2-TOprJ2, and TMexCD3-TOprJ1. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that tmexCD4-toprJ4 was not in the same branch as the other three variants. Expression of tmexCD4-toprJ4 increased tigecycline efflux in Escherichia coli and resulted in a 4- to 8-fold increase in MICs of tigecycline in E. coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae. Moreover, tmexCD4-toprJ4 can act synergistically with its upstream gene tet(A) to reduce the susceptibility of E. coli and K. pneumoniae strains to tigecycline. The tmexCD4-toprJ4-containing plasmid is a novel plasmid type and can be transferred to E. coli and K. pneumoniae only via electrotransformation. The increasing emergence of plasmid-mediated tigecycline resistance gene clusters suggests that the spread of tmexCD-toprJ-like gene clusters requires widespread attention. IMPORTANCE The plasmid-mediated tigecycline resistance gene cluster tmexCD1-toprJ1 and other variants have been detected in a variety of strains from multiple sources, including human-derived strains. In addition to tigecycline, these tmexCD-toprJ-like gene clusters reduce susceptibility of the host strain to many other antimicrobials. Here, we identified tmexCD4-toprJ4 in K. quasipneumoniae and E. roggenkampii, suggesting that this gene cluster is already present in the human-associated environment and the risk of transmission to humans is increased. Monitoring tigecycline-resistant Gram-negative bacteria is essential for understanding and addressing the spread of this gene cluster in agriculture and health care.

Mechanical cues are widely used for regulating cell behavior because of their overarching, extensive, and non-invasive advantages. However, unlike chemical cues, mechanical cues are not efficient enough to determine cell fate independently and improving the mechanosensitivity of cells is rather challenging. In this study, the combined effect of chemical and mechanical cues on the osteogenic differentiation of human mesenchymal stem cells is examined. These results show that chemical cues such as the presence of an osteogenic medium, induce cells to secrete more collagen, and induce integrin for recruiting focal adhesion proteins that mature and cascade a series of events with the help of the mechanical force of the scaffold material. High-resolution, highly ordered hollow-micro-frustum-arrays using double-layer lithography, combined with modified methacrylate gelatin loaded with pre-defined soluble chemicals to provide both chemical and mechanical cues to cells. This approach ultimately facilitates the achievement of cellular osteodifferentiation and enhances bone repair efficiency in a model of femoral fracture in vivo in mice. Moreover, the results also reveal these pivotal roles of Integrin α2/Focal adhesion kinase/Ras homolog gene family member A/Large Tumor Suppressor 1/Yes-associated protein in human mesenchymal stem cells osteogenic differentiation both in vitro and in vivo. Overall, these results show that chemical cues enhance the microtopographical sensitivity of cells.

Red mud (RM) was constantly reported to immobilize soil cadmium (Cd) and reduce Cd uptake by crops, but few studies investigated whether and how RM influenced rhizobacteria communities, which was a vital factor determining Cd bioavailability and plant growth. To address this concern, high-throughput sequencing and bioinformatics were used to analyze microbiological mechanisms underlying RM application reducing Cd accumulation in edible amaranth. Based on multiple statistical models (Detrended correspondence analysis, Bray-Curtis, weighted UniFrac, and Phylogenetic tree), this study found that RM reduced Cd content in plants not only through increasing rhizosphere soil pH, but by reshaping rhizobacteria communities. Special taxa (Alphaproteobacteria, Gammaproteobacteria, Actinobacteriota, and Gemmatimonadota) associated with growth promotion, anti-disease ability, and Cd resistance of plants preferentially colonized in the rhizosphere. Moreover, RM distinctly facilitated soil microbes' proliferation and microbial biofilm formation by up-regulating intracellular organic metabolism pathways and down-regulating cell motility metabolic pathways, and these microbial metabolites/microbial biofilm (e.g., organic acid, carbohydrates, proteins, S2-, and PO43-) and microbial cells immobilized rhizosphere soil Cd via the biosorption and chemical chelation. This study revealed an important role of reshaped rhizobacteria communities acting in reducing Cd content in plants after RM application.

Changing the frequency of light outside the laser cavity is essential for an integrated photonics platform, especially when the optical frequency of the on-chip light source is fixed or challenging to be tuned precisely. Previous on-chip frequency conversion demonstrations of multiple GHz have limitations of tuning the shifted frequency continuously. To achieve continuous on-chip optical frequency conversion, we electrically tune a lithium niobate ring resonator to induce adiabatic frequency conversion. In this work, frequency shifts of up to 14.3 GHz are achieved by adjusting the voltage of an RF control. With this technique, we can dynamically control light in a cavity within its photon lifetime by tuning the refractive index of the ring resonator electrically.

Objective: To analyze the impact of the contract of family doctors in community-level in Beijing on residents' medical expenses, so as to explore the efficacy of family physician contract service to facilitate the hierarchical treatment system. This study pioneeringly used the panel data of medical records and medical insurance settlement details provided by a community hospital in Beijing. By analyzing the correlation between family doctors and medical expenses, the study provided empirical support for the advancement of family doctor contracting in China. Methods: Using the panel data of medical records and medical insurance settlement details of 5,851 residents in a community hospital in Beijing from January 2018 to May 2021 for a total of 41 months, mixed-effects model and random-effects model were used for analysis. Results: The contract of family doctor has significantly increased residents' medical expenses. The types of medical insurance and whether patients with chronic diseases have a significant impact on residents' medical expenses. Conclusion: Family doctor contracting increases the probability of residents seeing a doctor in community hospitals. Community family doctor contracting services should be vigorously promoted, especially for special groups such as chronic disease patients and the elderly. The increase in the contracting rate of family doctors will become an important starting point for promoting hierarchical medical system and increasing the primary treatment at the community-level.

Lithium-ion capacitors (LICs) are attracting increasing attention because of their potential to bridge the electrochemical performance gap between batteries and supercapacitors. However, the commercial application of current LICs is still impeded by their inferior energy density, which is mainly due to the low capacity of the cathode. Therefore, tremendous efforts have been made in developing novel cathode materials with high capacity and excellent rate capability. Graphene-based nanomaterials have been recognized as one of the most promising cathodes for LICs due to their unique properties, and exciting progress has been achieved. Herein, in this review, the recent advances of graphene-based cathode materials for LICs are systematically summarized. Especially, the synthesis method, structure characterization and electrochemical performance of various graphene-based cathodes are comprehensively discussed and compared. Furthermore, their merits and limitations are also emphasized. Finally, a summary and outlook are presented to highlight some challenges of graphene-based cathode materials in the future applications of LICs.

Sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) have been regarded as a promising substitute for lithium-ion batteries but there are still formidable challenges in developing an anode material with adequate lifespan and outstanding rate performance. Transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) are promising anode materials for SIBs due to their high theoretical capacities. However, their severe volume expansions and low electronic conductivity impede their practical developments. In addition, the synthesis of energy storage materials from waste biomass has aroused extensive attention. Herein, we synthesize WS2 nanocrystals embedded in N and P co-doped biochar via a facile bio-sorption followed by sulphurization, employing waste chlorella as the adsorbent and bio-reactor. The WS2 nanocrystals are beneficial for storing more sodium ions and expediting the transportation of sodium ions, thus improving the capacity and reaction kinetics. Chlorella acts as a reactor and not only inhibits the stacking of WS2 nanocrystals during the synthesis process but also alleviates the mechanical pressure of composite during the charge/discharge process. As a result, the WS2/NPC-2 electrode delivers a high specific capacity (436 mA h g-1 at 0.1 A g-1) and superior rate performance of 311 mA h g-1 at 3 A g-1 for SIBs. It also exhibits excellent stability even up to 6000 cycles at 5 A g-1, which is one of the optimal long-cycle properties reported for WS2-based materials to date.
